Cylindrical VS Conical Ball Mills For coarse grinding the cylindrical grate mill will, as a rule, give a lower consumption of power per ton of ore than a conical mill. The reason for its better performance lies in the low pulp discharge level which reduces overgrinding at the point where it would do most harm—i.e., at the discharge end of the ...
Answer (1 of 4): Firearms with rifled barrels need to have a tight fit between lands and grooves and the surface of the bullet. This fit creates a seal to keep the hot gasses from escaping around the sides of the bullet. In older firearms, like muskets (which have no rifling) the seal was provid...
Renegades have a 1:48 twist to bridge the gap of both conical and ball but genrally are better conical shooters then ball. You can also try PirodexP with the lighter loads its generally easier to ignite. CW . Reactions: heldfast, JeffG, Haggis and 3 others. Paulyseggs Bushmaster. It has been definitely determined that the wear on the lining plates and balls per ton of material ground, is much less in the Conical than in the cylindrical ball and tube mills. When used in grinding clinker, it is estimated that the lining of the mills will last three or four years and the wear on the balls will not exceed one-tenth pound per barrel of clinker ground.
The conical seat is a very common type of lug nut. You can differentiate this style by their cone shaped lug seats which feature a 60 degree taper that self-centers the lug onto the wheel when tightened down. Unlike the spherical seat, conical seats differ with their angled shape. They are often referred to as acorn lug nuts because of their ...

The Hardinge Conical Ball Mill —because of its conical shape—offsets one of the serious disadvantages found in the cylindrical, compartment type mill, i. e., unproportionate speeds for the different size balls. In the latter type mill, the smaller balls travel at the same rate of speed as the larger balls, the height of fall in the ...
I'm just wondering, the factory ball seat bolts fit fine on stock wheels but I'm running steelies.. With my wheel spacers I need all new bolts, wasnt sure if for plain black steelies, if ball seat is still the best option, or if conical is better because it will work with my aftermarket wheels in summer.,,,
Because it is the rifling or "barrel twist" that dictates whether a gun uses a sabot/conical or patched round ball most effectively, both in-line and sidehammer guns can be manufactured to shoot any kind of projectile. Therefore, the only real advantage of one design over the other is personal preference.

The bullets could also be longer and consequently have more mass than a round ball of the same diameter, meaning more velocity and more power. Today, conical bullets are made of lead, jacketed lead and full copper. EXAMPLES: Thor Full Bore Conical Bullet, Hornady FPB. Sabot Bullets

I have been shooting my Traditions Deer hunter sidelock for about 6 or 7 years now and all I have fired out of it is .490 round balls, I have never tried a conical bullet out of it yet. I have taken 2 nice bucks with it over the past two seasons, both deer were within 30 actully the big one ...
The bullet that stops in the animal did not make as big or as long a wound. I want the largest one my projectile can make, that means big frontal area and complete penetration(exit) giving a good bloodtrail to follow if needed. The conical bullet will carry its ability to cause a wound better than a ball due to better aerodynamics.
How accurate is a patched 50 cal. round ball vs. a conical bullet at 100 to 150 yds. 2. Also how much more accurate is a 1:32 rifling vs. a 1:48 for conical bullets at 100 to 150 yds. for deer hunting.
One reason I really liked the full bore conicals over the sabots was they were far easier to load after the barrel had a little bit of fouling. Maybe not a big deal for hunting if starting the day out with a clean bore and only shooting once or twice but more of a pain at the range. Nov 28, 2019. #7. U.
